Eligibility and Application
I want to go to SKATE for Girls, but the times/dates don't work exactly with my schedule. Should I still apply?
Attendance is mandatory for the duration of the 6-week program. By applying, you commit to each weekly session of the program. Please only apply if you can attend all sessions.
I want to learn how to ice skate, but math class is not difficult for me. Can I apply?
Yes, you can still apply! The SKATE for Girls curriculum is made to challenge students of all math abilities.
How much does the program cost?
The program is free of charge to all students that attend the program, but donations are appreciated.
Curriculum
Who will be teaching SKATE for Girls?
U.S. Figure Skating certified instructors will teach the skating class and trained tutors will lead the math sessions. Most volunteers will be high school students, and some will have the ability to guide the skating and math classes.
What should I wear?
We recommend that you wear long pants/leggings and a jacket that you can move in. Please bring socks and gloves.
Do I need to already own figure skates to participate?
No, you don't need to own figure skates. Skates will be provided.
